UK-based Axon Automotive previewed a pre-production plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version of its lightweight city car at the Milton Keynes Science Festival. The Axon gasoline-powered city car uses existing engine technology and carbon fibre material advances to offer 100 mpg UK (83.3 mpg US, 2.8 L/100km).

The Axon 8080 plug-in hybrid is built to accommodate two adults, with plenty of luggage space. On of the main design features of the Axon 8080 plug-in hybrid are the seats which were designed by a fashion house and made from recycled fabrics.

Using a typical UK powerstation mix to account for emissions generated during electricity generation, the Axon PHEV emits just under 50 g/km of CO2 for the mix of electric and gasoline used in the Government test. This is half the level needed for free annual road tax in UK for this car (band ‘A’ is below 100 g/km of CO2 = zero road tax in the UK).

The Axon 8080 plug-in hybrid price has not been announced yet, but the manufacturer says it will go on the market in 2011.

Hendrick Motorsports, a NASCAR racing organization has commissioned Callaway Cars to develop and build a limited edition run of Hendrick Motorsports 25th Anniversary 2010 Camaro SS vehicles. The 25th anniversary Camaro will include a host of engine, body and interior modifications.
Under the hood power hasbeen increased from 426 to 582 by way of Callaway's Eaton TVS series supercharger, high-flow air filtration system, low-restriction exhaust system and engine tune.

Amphibious lamborghini takes to the high seas

At first glance, I thought this seafaring sports car was the underwater Lotus Esprit from The Spy Who Loved Me. Much to my amazement, it’s a real amphibious Lamborghini Countach built by Mike Ryan of SeaRoader.

Siapa Mau Sofa dari Bodi Vespa?

Desain unik Vespa memang mengundang decak kagum banyak orang. Tidak hanya mengundang minat untuk menungganginya, tapi juga mengkreasinya dengan berbagai kerajinan lain yang sama uniknya.

Hal itulah yang melatari sebuah studio seni bernama Bel&Bel dari Spanyol ketika mereka membuat sofa dengan bahan utama bodi Vespa.

Sofa yang dibuat Bel&Bel ini menggunakan bodi bagian depan alias sayap Vespa yang kemudian dilapisi dengan busa dan bahan kulit berbagai warna yang kemudian dijahit tidak dengan mesin tapi tangan.

Hasil kreasi studio ini cukup beragam dan unik yang tentu bagus sekali sebagai bagian interior rumah. Misalnya saja sofa Vespa dengan kaki dari ban-nya.

Hebatnya lagi, sofa-sofa tersebut menggunakan bodi Vespa klasik yang di Indonesia tentu masih digunakan. Ini pun bisa dipandang sebagai cara unik mendaur ulang Vespa.

Mengingat populasi Vespa yang masih cukup banyak di Indonesia, ide ini
sepertinya pantas untuk ditiru dibanding hanya mengekspor Vaspa tua kita ke berbagai negara.

Choosing a Car Stereo

With the huge choice of car audio equipment available today it is often difficult to decide what car stereo would best suit your needs. This article will hopefully help you negotiate the technical minefield and make the best choice for your requirements.

There are two main contributing factors to the quality of the audio that is produced by any audio equipment which are the frequency response and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The frequency response of the ear is around 20Hz to 20KHz although this often diminishes with age. A 'loud' facility is sometimes provide to boost the frequencies that become degraded with age. The SNR is important as it is what constitutes the background hiss that is often associated with cheaper audio equipment.

The car stereo or head unit today can play audio from a wide variety of sources which we will now discuss below.

Cassette Deck

If the reason for replacing your car stereo is to allow you to play your CD's or music from your iPod then please be aware that it is possible to purchase equipment that allows you to play music from an external source. These specialised adapters look like a cassette with a flying lead that plugs into your alternate music source ie iPod, CD player etc. This is often a very cheap and easy alternative if funds are tight!

Audio Cassettes in general do not give as good an audio experience as CD players as their frequency response and SNR is often inferior to that of modern digital equipment.

Although cassette tape sales have declined extensively it is still possible to purchase due to the amount of tapes that are still out there however as a long term investment a CD or MP3 player would probably be a better choice.

CD player

The CD has been around for many years now and is well established in the market-place. A CD can store its information in a multitude of formats but the most popular at the moment is usually just referred to as an Audio CD in the specifications. These are the CD's that you can buy of the shelf from any major music retail shop.

As with all technology the the common audio format is under threat by a relatively new format referred to as MP3. MP3 is a digital audio compression technique that allows much more audio to be squeezed onto a single CD. A typical compressed song will be roughly 4-6MB depending upon the quality of the audio and a typical CD can store around 700MB of data. So you can see that you can store many more songs using MP3 technology than with the conventional music CD's.

It is also possible to purchase a head unit that has a remote CD player or CD changer. A CD changer is like a mini duke box that can be located in your boot, glove compartment etc. They typically have between 6 and 12 CD's within them and often support the ability to play songs randomly between all the CD's.

USB/Memory Card
With the rapid adoption of MP3 format and the availability of cheap USB memory sticks car audio manufacturers have started to adopt USB ports on their equipment as standard. A USB stick or memory card can be thought of as a very small CD usually about a couple of inches long and about half an inch wide but capable of storing vastly more information than a conventional CD. Something to check when buying a head unit supporting this feature is the upper memory limit of the USB stick or memory card. Typical memory cards today are around 2-4GB which would store many albums however these sizes may not be supported by the head unit.

If you purchase a head unit supporting this type of media then you'll need to make sure that you have a method of getting the music from you CD collection onto the memory stick. This will involve 'ripping' the audio and copying it onto the memory. There are many programs available for doing this such as Windows Media Player.

Radio

Most people are familiar with car radio's and understand what to look for when purchasing one. However something to keep in mind when looking is the uptake of DAB radio which is the new digital transmission method.

DAB radio uses modern digital compression techniques to offer a greater variety of music and programmes as well as short messages etc that often appear of the display. Since this is a new format and isn't widely adopted as the mainstream format most DAB radios also still support FM transmissions.

The DIN form factor

Finally something which should be overlooked is the form factor and connections for the head-unit. With early cars there wasn't really a standard which led to all sorts of problems when replacing the factor standard unit. However there is now a standard size referred to as the DIN which is 2 1/8" (50mm) tall and 7 1/8" (180mm) wide and double-DIN which is twice as tall as the standard DIN size.

The connectors used to plug the stereo in are fairly common but there is no one standard connector. Luckily due to the size of the problem there are many different types of adaptor readily available in most car audio shops.

One problem often experience with fitting new audio equipment is with the memory 'forgetting' its settings. This is often due to the power supply wires to the head unit being switched over. To over come this problem the manufacturers of the cabling adapters easily enable the yellow and red wire to be interchanged which will fix the problem.

It is always worth checking out many retailers before making a selection on a head unit and I would recommend searching a car audio directory for the best choice.

Now, Russian Lada looks very sporty

LADA-C is conceptual design on the basis of the new platform, which is developing in cooperation with Magna International Inc. and will become the base for the whole range of new LADA models. This class-C family will include sedan, hatchback, universal, compact van and cross-over with engines 1.6 – 2.0l.

In September 2006 at Moscow International motor-show for the first time LADA presented the new family sedan, its name was Concept C, and today in Geneva there is a debut of 3-doors hatchback with a typically sports character.

Adwitya Amandio Bela Merah Putih

Drifter muda tanah air Adwitya Amandio mengatakan siap bertarung dengan drifter terbaik Asia Pasifik lainnya di kejuaraan Formula Drift Pro-Am Series (FDPAS) 2009, 6-8 November 2009, di Thailand.

"Saya bangga untuk turut serta dalam ajang drifting internasional. Meski tidak mengejar target menjadi juara, saya akan bertanding semaksimal mungkin," ujar Adwitya Amandio, yang biasa disapa Dio ini dalam konferensi pers Achilles Drift Indonesia (ADI), hari Selasa (27/10), di Jakarta.

Dio yang menjadi andalan tim Achilles Drift Indonesia (ADI) akan didampingi oleh pereli nasional Rifat Sungkar yang akan bertugas sebagai adviser untuk menyiapkan strategi di Thailand pekan depan.

PT Multistrada Arah Sarana (MAS) selaku produsen ban Achilles mengungkapkan bahwa Dio sebagai drifter yang dipercaya untuk membela merah putih dinilai memiliki pengalaman yang cukup baik di event drifting nasional.

"Kami terus berkomitmen untuk memajukan dunia otomotif Indonesia, khususnya dengan bekerjasama dan memberikan support kami kepada para pembalap dan drifter nasinoal yang memiliki potensi untuk berprestasi pada skala internasional," ujar Presiden Direktur PT MAS Pieter Tanuri.

Indonesia yang baru pertama kali mengikuti kejuaraan FDPAS akan bertanding menghadapi drifter-drifter terbaik Asia Pasifik, seperti dari Thailand, Malaysia, Filipina, Jepang, Hong Kong, Singapura, dan Selandia Baru.

Dio yang masih berusia 17 thaun ini akan menggunakan mobil Nissan Cefiro yang dilengkapi dengan ban Achilles ATR Sport berukuran 18 inci.

Dio pernah menjuarai Kejurnas Rally kelas GR2 tahun 2008 dan berhasil menjadi juara kedua Achilles Drift Battle bulan Juli lalu di Jakarta.

Sultan Bin Tahnoun opens Saadiyat Art Cars Expo

Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) and Tourism Development '&' Investment Company (TDIC), inaugurated yesterday the Art Cars exhibition held in the grounds of Manarat Al Saadiyat, the new 15,400 square metre dedicated artistic venue on Saadiyat Island - the cultural and tourism destination lying 500 metres offshore the UAE capital.

Running until 30th November, Art Cars is open daily from 10am until 8pm and features an intriguing mix of European and American classic cars which have been given 'pop art' makeovers by local and international artists and a line-up of vintage models which trace the motoring development of Abu Dhabi through the 50s, 60s and 70s.

"Art Cars is a very timely initiative coming as it does in the run up to this weekend's 2009 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix," said Sheikh Sultan.

"It is part of the visitor enhancement programme undertaken by ADTA and when viewed alongside the Grand Prix demonstrates this emirate's love of all things automobile while serving to track the emirate's motoring history from the 1950s until the present day.

"Some of the vehicles have been kindly loaned to the exhibition by His Highness Sheikh Tahnoun Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi's Rulers Representative in the Eastern Region and several of them were personally used by the late UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan during his many tours of the emirate's Eastern region.

"This remarkable fleet includes some iconic models which, combined, present a snapshot of motoring history and evolution." Visitors to the free-to-attend exhibition will see cars transformed into works of art by a gallery of local and visiting artists from France, China and Singapore. All designs have been inspired by the visual, mass pop art movement of the 50s and 60s, made famous by US artist Andy Warhol.

Manarat Al Saadiyat can be reached via the new Saadiyat Bridge accessible from Abu Dhabi's Mina Zayed area, where visitors will follow a beautifully landscaped route to the centre. From Dubai, visitors can reach Manarat Al Saadiyat by taking the new Yas Island highway and following the road through to Saadiyat.

The fabulous fleet line-up of motoring masterpieces includes Cadillac LaSalle 1939, Ford T 1920, Chevrolet Independence 1931, BMW Z8 2000 , Mercedes 250SL 1968, Ford F-Series 1950, Chevrolet Bel Air 1956, MINI Cooper 1996, Aston Martin DBS 2009, Rolls Royce Silver Shadow 1976 and Chevrolet Impala 1959.

Iran Offers Opportunity For Malaysian Automotive Part Suppliers


A Malaysian marketing mission on automotive-related products and services to Tehran secured RM10.3 million worth of orders from Iranian auto parts importers and car manufacturers recently.

The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade)-led delegation that took part in the Oct 5-7 mission comprised eight Malaysian companies.

They manufacture items like plastic parts components, alloy wheels, gasket, automotive accessories, auto lights system and others.

They held a business meeting with two leading car manufacturers Iran Khodro and Saipa, as well as Iranian auto parts vendors.

"The mission organised by Matrade was timely since the two car manufacturers would like to begin technical collaborations with Malaysian companies to supply the Iranian market," said Dubai-based Matrade senior trade commissioner Dzulkifli Mahmud.

Such link-ups, he said, would enable Malaysian companies to leverage their expertise, for example, in designing parts and moulds for car components.

According to Dzulkifli, Iran Khodro and Saipa together produced a total of 1.3 million cars every year, of which 81.3 per cent were passenger cars.

"With a population of 70 million, the Iranian market offers promising opportunities for Malaysian companies to export auto parts and collaborate with local car manufacturers and vendors to produce innovative parts and components," he said.

The trade commissioner pointed out that the automotive industry in Iran was experiencing strong growth for the past 10 years, averaging 23 per cent per annum.

In 2008, Iran was ranked the world's 16th largest automotive production country.

In the first seven months of 2009, total trade between Malaysia and Iran hit RM1.73 billion, with exports to Iran valued at RM1.17 billion and imports RM558 million.

Exports of automotive parts and components to Iran were valued at RM118 million.

"Malaysia's export of auto parts to Iran will grow 10 per cent per annum in 2010. Among the products that have potential to be exported are alloy rims, body kits, plastic injection moulding and anti-theft system," said Dzulkifli.

Geely Sudah Siap Pesan

Meskipun baru akan mulai memproduksi mobil barunya pada Oktober mendatang,
pabrikan mobil asal China, Geely, nampaknya mendapatkan respon yang cukup baik di pasaran.

Hal tersebut terbukti di kota Paris Van Java, Bandung. Setelah melakukan soft launching dealer mereka di Bandung dan memperkenalkan merek ini ke masyarakat Jawa Barat, Geely pun ternyata sudah mendapat benyak pemesanan.

"Sejak di perkenalkan di Bandung, sekarang kami sudah menerima SPK (Surat Pemesanan Kendaraan) sampai puluhan unit lho," ungkap Presiden Direktur PT Geely Mobil Indonesia (GMI) A Budi Pramono ketika dihubungi detikOto, Kamis (17/9/2009).

SPK yang mencapai puluhan itu menurutnya sangat wajar. Terlebih harga yang ditawarkan Geely untuk Varian MK dan CK pun dianggap sangat menarik yakni
hanya Rp 99.999.999,- saja secara off the road.

Itu baru di Bandung, sebab pemesanan mobil-mobil Geely pun menurut Budi
ternyata tidak hanya datang dari ibukota Jawa Barat saja, namun juga di
kota-kota lain seperti Semarang dan Bali misalnya.

"Yang pasti, setiap kami lakukan soft launching di sebuah kota, sambutannya
cukup baik semua," papar Budi.

Mercy Infiniti Ala China

Lagi-lagi, China membuat gebrakan dalam hal desain mobil. Kali ini giliran Infiniti G35 dan Mercedez Benz yang kena jarah desainnya oleh produsen mobil China, Jianghuai.

Dari penampilannya, sedan Jianghuai ini bukan hanya terinspirasi oleh sedan mewah Infiniti G35, tapi memang itu adalah Infiniti.

Mulai dari tampilan depan, sampai desain pilar A sampai C, sedan China ini benar-benar mengeluarkan aura sebuah mobil mewah tersebut.

Bahkan, ketika pandangan beralih ke belakang, semua pun pasti bakal dikejutkan dengan desain buritan dari sedan Jianghuai ini. Bagaimana tidak, karena itu adalah bagian belakang sebuah Mercedes Benz E350s.

Perbedaannya, tentu hanya terletak pada emblem logo saja. Bila Mercedes Benz memiliki bintang hanya tiga, lantas menjadi lima bintang pada sedan Jianghuai ini.

The World's Most Expensive SUV

This is the world's most expensive SUV - but with three bottles of the world's most expensive vodka included in the price tag, it actually appears to be a bargain.

The £1million Dartz Prombron Monaco Red Diamond Edition has gold-plated windows, pure tungsten exhausts, and the speed gauges are encrusted in diamonds. The seats are not for the squeamish. They are made of one of the softest materials around - leather from a whale's penis.

And, just to send the bling factor right through the roof, this SUV also comes complete with an exterior bulletproof Kevlar coating. But that's nothing compared to the vodka that comes with it.

The car company has thrown three bottles of Russo-Baltique, the vodka brand it created this year to mark its100th anniversary, Motor Authority reported.

Last year, a bottle retailed for £790,000. It is not a meant to be drunk, the company's website explains - instead it should be displayed as art. That's because the bling of the bottle frankly puts the SUV to shame.

According to the Dartz company's website, the flask, a replica of the radiator guard used for the Russo-Baltique cars, is made from gold coins minted between 1908 and 1912. This is around the time the company manufactured its first car.

The flask cap is made from white and yellow gold and contains a diamond-encrusted replica of the Russian Imperial Eagle. And finally, the bottle itself is made of bulletproof glass 30cm thick - just in case. The car - and vodka - were produced especially for the mega-exclusive Top Marques luxury motor show in Monaco next year.

The car is made by the company that produced armoured vehicles for Vladimir Lenin, Leon Trotsky, and Tsar Nicolas. The seats are indeed of 'real whale penis leather,' says a spokesperson for Dartz Kombat.

'It is inspired by the original playboy Aristotle Onassis' yacht Christina O, which had bar stool seats made from sperm whale foreskin.

'Some people have called us crazy because of this, but we think we must make a luxury car till the end.'

Weighing four tons and powered by a V8 engine capable of 450 horse power, the Pombron's maker also claim the car is 'rocket grenade proof'.

'In the past our customers have included Lenin and his revolutionary partner Trotsky,' explains the Dartz spokesperson.

'In fact we are launching a version of this new model in 2012, just for Latin America.

'This will commemorate the fact that Trotsky was killed in Mexico with an ice pick in 1940.

'As such, the Latin version will come with a gold ice axe to mark this fact.'

Keeping the exact details of the car secret, the Pombron's makers say the SUV will be unveiled to Prince Albert of Monaco at the Top Marques opening in April of next year.

Hanya 30 juta dollar AS untuk produksi massal mobnas

Panggah Susanto mengatakan, setiap produsen merek mobnas memerlukan dana sedikitnya 30 juta dollar AS untuk membangun fasilitas perakitan. Investasi sebesar itu pun hanya untuk perakitan dengan kapasitas 5.000-10.000 unit per tahun.

Kenyataan itu dialami Widya Aryadi, yang telah memamerkan prototipe dan memperlihatkan kemampuan mobil kecilnya yang diberi nama UPV (Urban Personal Vehicle) dengan harga Rp 30 juta.

“Ternyata tak mudah mewujudkan dan membangun industri mobil murah,” keluhnya ketika bertemu dengan Kompas.com pada Pameran Kreasi Departemen Pendidikan di Jakarta, 11 Agustus lalu.

Padahal, pertengahan Mei 2009, saat mengikuti Pameran Industri Indonesia, Widya dan mitranya bersemangat mewujudkan cita-citanya. Maklum, minat masyarakat terhadap mobil yang dipamerkannya ketika itu sangat tinggi. Tidak hanya konsumen di dalam negeri. “Juga ada pesanan dari Belanda. Mereka minta 1.000 unit,” ungkap Widya yang ketika itu didampingi Anis Muhammad Mufid, mitranya yang bertugas mencari investor.

Waktu itu, Widya juga mengemukakan rencananya untuk memamerkan empat UPV terbaru, sekaligus untuk dites oleh pengunjung IIMS 2009 akhir Juli lalu.

Kenyataannya, rencana tersebut kandas. Bekerja sama dengan produsen sepeda motor dan kendaraan roda tiga, Viar memasok mesin dan sistem penggerak, sementara Uness hanya memamerkan kendaraan kecil paramedik tanpa atap.

Kendaraan kecil yang disebutkan terakhir direncanakan dipakai saat laga MU dan Indonesian All Star sebagai feeder bagi pemain yang cedera. Namun, kendaraan itu urung tampil gara-gara bom teroris di JW Marriott dan Ritz-Carlton, yang menyebabkan MU ciut nyali berekshibisi di Jakarta.

Prototipe yang sempat dipajang di IIMS 2009 ini baru hadir dua hari menjelang event ditutup. Tak ada lagi gaung dan masyarakat yang semula berharap bisa mencoba mobil tersebut tak kunjung mendapatkan kepastian sampai pameran usai.

“Produk tersebut baru sampai tahap prototipe. Belum sampai ke uji tipe. Produsen juga mempertimbangkan, apa mobil tersebut laku dijual atau tidak,” seru Panggah di Jakarta, Selasa (25/8) tentang realisasi proyek mobil nasional tersebut.

Rektor Uness Prof Dr Sudijono Sastro-Atmodjo juga tak lupa mengomentari mobil kecil dan murah yang dikembangkan oleh lembaga yang dipimpinnya itu. “Satu generasi (maksudnya satu prototipe) lagi baru bisa diproduksi. Masih banyak yang harus diperbaiki,” ungkapnya saat menyaksikan salah satu mobil terakhir sedang diperbaiki di Departemen Pendidikan Jakarta.

Ia menambahkan, faktor keselamatan bagi penumpang kendaraan ini harus dipikirkan lebih lanjut. “Ini menyangkut nyawa manusia,” ujarnya.

Sementara itu, Widya mengatakan, ia menciptakan kendaraan kecil itu untuk mengikuti jejak Tata Motors, raksasa industri mobil India yang menciptakan Nano, dari sisi berbeda. “Kalau Tata membuat Nano dengan memperkecil ukuran mobil, saya ingin membuat sepeda motor yang dimobilkan. Namun, tetap menggunakan empat roda. Tidak tiga roda seperti Bajaj” ungkapnya.

Kenyataannya, kendati banyak yang tertarik terhadap kendaraan ini—berdasarkan respons masyarakat ketika Kompas.com mengulas kreasi Uness ini—nyatanya untuk menghadirkan 4 prototipe tidak mudah.

Padahal, ia menciptakan mobil mikro ini, selain ingin memanusiakan moda transportasi Indonesia, minat terhadap kreasinya cukup tinggi. Seperti dijelaskannya, hal itu termasuk pengganti Bajaj yang sekarang ini harganya makin mahal. Ia juga menyebutkan, pasar lain untuk kreasinya tersebut adalah operasional lapangan golf dan perkebunan.

“Ukurannya yang kecil, mudah bergerak di sela-sela pohon kelapa sawit. Digunakan sebagai kendaraan pengumpul,” ucap Widya lagi.

Kenyataannya, jalan menuju ke arah itu tidak semudah yang diperkirakan dosen muda yang kreatif ini. Ia bisa menerawang peluang. Namun, investor lebih pintar bermain dengan uang!

Industri Automotif Nasional Butuh Dukungan Semua Pihak

Saat ini, munculnya mobil-mobil produksi dalam negeri membuktikan industri automotif Indonesia mulai bangkit. Namun, guna memajukan industri ini, dibutuhkan dukungan dan kerjasama dari berbagai pihak.

Hal ini dikemukakan Ketua Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi (BPPT) Marzan A. Iskandar disela acara Shell Eco-marathon di Hotel Four Season, Jakarta, Jumat (14/8/2009).

Menurutnya, munculnya mobil-mobil produksi anak bangsa seperti Arina, Gea, Tawon, dan Komodo merupakan bukti bahwa industri automotif dalam negeri mulai bangkit.

"Kita harus meyakinkan semua pihak, bahwa kita butuh dan mampu mengembangkan industri mobil Nasional," tegasnya.

Namun, kata dia, dibutuhkan kerjasama yang kuat dari berbagai pihak demi mewujudkan hal ini. "Kita butuh kerjasama misalnya dari Departemen Perindustrian (Depperin) dan Departemen Perhubungan (Dephub)," paparnya.

Kebutuhan untuk terus memajukan industri automotif lokal ini disadari Marzan karena besarnya potensi pasar yang ada di Indonesia. "Dengan jumlah penduduk di Indonesia yang besar, ini membuktikan bahwa potensi pasar untuk mobil Nasional sangat terbuka lebar, ini yang perlu kita manfaatkan," tegas Marzan.

“Tidak hanya buka di satu tempat. Mulai 10 Juni 2009 dibuka serentak 26 tempat di Jadetabek (Jakarta, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi),” pasti Andi Harjoko, President Director, AMX.

Ducati Indonesia Kini Punya Tim Balap

Dengan naiknya animo masyarakat untuk ajang motor sport, Ducati Indonesia menghadirkan sebuah tim balap di kelas Superbike yang bernama DUCATI INDONESIA RACING TEAM (DIRT), akhir pekan lalu, di Jakarta.

”Kita tidak terlalu muluk menargetkan juara tahun ini mengingat seri Kejurnas Superbike hanya tersisa dua seri, namun untuk tahun depan kita akan serius menghadapi kejuaraan ini dan tidak mungkin hingga level internasional,” ujar Team Director DIRT Agustus Sani Nugroho, dalam siaran pers yang diterima INILAH.COM hari Senin (19/10).

Tim balap ini ditahap awal akan menggunakan pembalap senior berpengalaman Matteo Guerinoni, juara nasional Superbike 2008, yang akan turun dengan motor Ducati Superbike seri terbaru Ducati Superbike 1198s.

Tim ini secara langsung dipimpin oleh Agustus Sani Nugroho selaku Team Director dan Andre Jess selaku Team and Technical Manager dari Ducati Indonesia.

PT Bank Danamon Indonesia: Pembiayaan Otomotif Jadi Andalan

PT Bank Danamon baru saja merilis laporan keuangan triwulan III. Korporasi ini sukses membukukan pertumbuhan kredit mikro hingga 15%. Pembiayaan otomotif jadi andalan.

Vera Eve Lim, Direktur Keuangan Bank Danamon, menjelaskan, meski laba menyusut, Danamon membukukan pertumbuhan penyaluran kredit mikro Danamon Simpan Pinjam (DSP) hingga 15%. Menurutnya, outstanding kredit DSP per akhir September 2009 Rp 11,85 triliun, naik dari Rp 10,28 triliun di akhir September 2008.

Lebih jauh Vera mengatakan porsi kredit untuk nasabah individu mencapai 53% dari total portofolio kredit Bank Danamon. “Yang masuk dalam kelompok kredit individu adalah kredit mikro melalui DSP,” katanya di Jakarta, Selasa (20/10).

Selain itu, juga termasuk pembiayaan kendaraan melalui Adira Finance dan kredit pembiayaan perlengkapan rumah tangga dan elektronik melalui Adira Kredit. Pembiayaan untuk motor dan mobil naik Rp 1,48 triliun atau 9% menjadi Rp 17,95 triliun.

Vera mengakui pembiayaan otomotif cukup menggembirakan karena tumbuh positif di saat pasar masih lesu. Lonjakan kredit ini menyebabkan penghasilan bunga naik dari Rp 6,2 triliun menjadi Rp 6,8 triliun. “Margin bunga bersih Bank Danamon masih tinggi, yaitu 11,5%,” ujarnya.

Namun demikian, laba bersih Bank Danamon merosot seiring meningkatnya biaya provisi kredit bermasalah. Danamon juga mencetak lonjakan kredit bermasalah atau non performing loan (NPL). Per akhir September 2009, NPL Bank Danamon yang dihitung secara gross adalah 4%, naik dari 2,1% di akhir kuartal ketiga 2008.

Direktur Utama Bank Danamon, Sebastian Paredes, pun mengisyaratkan kinerja sebagian bank mulai merosot memasuki kuartal ketiga 2009. Perbankan rupanya belum lepas dari imbas krisis keuangan global. Menurutnya, selama sembilan bulan pertama 2008 kinerja industri perbankan masih positif. "Setelah itu, kami masuk kondisi terberat," timpalnya.

Pada triwulan III 2009, laba bersih Bank Danamon merosot 22,6% dibandingkan tahun lalu. Laba bersih hingga akhir September 2009 senilai Rp 1,37 triliun, turun dibanding periode sama tahun lalu, Rp 1,76 triliun.

Driverless Car Race

The future of safe road traffic belongs to laser technology. This was demonstrated at the race for driverless cars, the DARPA Urban Challenge in the USA.

The winning Tartan Racing Team, the second-place Stanford Racing Team and the third-place Victor Tango Team in the finals held on 3 November used Ibeo laser sensors. The high-performance sensors were the racing vehicle's smart eyes. Besides these teams, another 3 additional vehicles in the race used the laser scanners made in Germany.

Smart Eyes

In order for the driverless cars to be capable of completely automatic driving, they have to be capable of recognizing their surroundings and reacting to the prevailing conditions in fractions of a second.

The Ibeo laser scanners serve as smart eyes that guide the vehicles safely through traffic.
